about

I wrote this song several months ago after spending some time with Waylon's self-titled album from 1970. There was a song on it called "I May Never Pass This Way Again" that really spoke to me. This song is a response to that song.

"Tonight I Want You" is essentially a love song (not something I typically do), but also one filled with the typical fears of new love, and a song in which a woman is the one doing the approaching and making sure she gets what she wants, instead of playing to traditional roles.

This song is super special to me, and every bit of it is true. I hope you like it!

lyrics

*Lyrics*
I know you may never pass this way again
That's why I'm comin on so strong
You say I've got it all wrong
And wonder what I even see
Well what I see is what I want and tonight I want you

I should go, but I want to change your mind
We've had too much and now we're dancing to "Strawberry Wine"
There's nobody waitin' up on me
All I'm waitin' on is you
Well what I see is what I want and tonight I want you

You can't even remember my first name
So I tell you to just call me "darlin'"
You say you've never been here before
And you sure ain't seen nothin' like me
Well what I see is what I want and tonight I want you

Now you're passin' through pretty often
Aren't you glad I came on so strong?
I knew I had just one shot
So I put all my money down
Now what I see is what I got and now I got you
